Lisa Gersh was most recently the Chief Executive Officer of Alexander Wang, a fashion brand based in New York City. Prior to Alexander Wang, Ms. Gersh was the Chief Executive Officer of Goop, Inc. (a lifestyle brand founded by Gwyneth Paltrow) serving in that role from 2014 until 2016. Prior to joining Goop, Ms. Gersh served as President and CEO of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc. until 2013.
Before joining MSLO, Ms. Gersh served as President of Strategic Initiatives at NBC and Managing Director of the Weather Channel Companies for NBC Universal. She played an instrumental role in NBC Universal’s multi-billion dollar acquisition of The Weather Channel Companies and served as interim CEO in 2009. Ms. Gersh joined NBC Universal in 2007 after the company acquired Oxygen Media, a media company that she co-founded with Geraldine Laybourne and served as its President and Chief Operating Officer.
Previously, Ms. Gersh had 13 years of experience creating strong corporate partnerships and negotiating financing and other strategic relationships at the New York law firm, Friedman Kaplan & Seiler LLP, which she co-founded and where she served as partner from 1986 to 1998. She has been a member of the Board of Directors of Hasbro, Inc. since July 2010 and is the chair of the Compensation Committee. Ms. Gersh recently joined the Board of Establishment Labs and is the chair of the Nomination and Governance Committee. Ms. Gersh is also on the Samsung Retail Advisory Board and is the non-executive chair of The Second Shift. Ms. Gersh is also a member of the Board of The Bail Project, a national nonprofit organization that pays bail for people in need, reuniting families and restoring the presumption of innocence.
